Laura was a graduate of Newtown High School in Elmhurst, NY and earned her bachelor's degree in education from State University of New York at Brockport. Before her retirement in 1998, she was employed by the Jamestown Board of Education as a fifth and sixth grade teacher at Washington Middle School for 25 years.

Born in Mechanics Valley, near North East, MD, on March 6, 1922, he was the son of the late Earl and Theresa Phillips. He was the husband of the late Rebecca E. Phillips who passed on December 18, 2018. Robert retired from Aberdeen Proving Ground where he worked as a carpenter. He also managed Elkton Supply company’s North East Branch. (Lisa Hansen-Engdahl) Engdahl of Lakewood, NY, a daughter; Melinda S. Phelps of Marietta, GA, four grandchildren; Jackson R. Engdahl, Mia Marie Engdahl, Braydon N. Phelps, Nolan D. Phelps. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Jack R. Engdahl whom she married June 27, 1964, and who died April 22, 2021. The funeral will be held at 11 am Wednesday in the Lind Funeral Home. Friends will be received for one hour prior to the service on Wednesday in the funeral home. Kathy loved to work and despite her illness, continued to do so until February 2020. She was a friendly face to so many patients who still ask about her to this day. After leaving the workforce, Kathy enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her granddaughter, Emma.
